Another blog...

The Rakino Ratepayers Association has set up their own official blog in an effort to control the dissemination of information, here.

You may notice some similarities to this site :). I hope that this is a step towards them becoming more transparent and informing the public of their works and that they report the unvarnished truth. I see no point in attempting to rival them.

Fishing Competition

The Snapper Shield was once again fought for on Queen's Birthday Weekend. This year's fish were even smaller than those of last year but keeping in tradition, the winning fish was caught off the rocks.

In 3rd place, winning a torch with his 1.15kg snapper was Roy Berquist.
In 2nd place, winning a smoke alarm was Linda Wong with her 1.2kg snapper.
Michael Carson won the snapper trophy and a fire extinguisher with a 1.3kg snapper. Last year's winning fish was a 1.8kg snapper caught by Michael Orton.
The mystery prize of a bottle of wine was won by Lez.

Lez provided his kingfish (caught only a couple of week prior) which was devoured along side the sausages and beer consumed at the final weigh in.

Many thanks to the participants and to Lez for organising it and fairly weighing in all the fish.

Good to see that the winning fish was once again caught off the rocks. Keeping in tune with the original competition.
