Another blog...

The Rakino Ratepayers Association has set up their own official blog in an effort to control the dissemination of information, here.

You may notice some similarities to this site :). I hope that this is a step towards them becoming more transparent and informing the public of their works and that they report the unvarnished truth. I see no point in attempting to rival them.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Your Island needs YOU for the Rakino Jazz& Art Picnic

Help out and meet the community at the same time

Duties will be organised on a rota basis so you will be free to enjoy the entertainment as well.

All those wishing to lend a hand (approx. 2 hours) with the Rakino Jazz & Art Picnic are requested to meet at the Hall in Sandy Bay on Friday 6 April at 1 pm. We can then determine numbers available and produce a roster for tasks on the day of the picnic (Saturday 7 April) as well as for the clean up on Sunday 8 April. The clean up will commence at 10 am and will conclude with a BBQ for all involved.
If you are unable to make the meeting on Friday 6 April, but can help at the picnic or with the clean up, please e mail with your preferred task, date and time available to;

Junior Fishing Contest

This year I have moved the Children's Fishing Contest to the 9th of April. This is to keep the competition in the summer time, there should be plenty of fish biting. There have been kind donations ranging from $20-50 for this event which costs around $160, more sponsors are welcome. I will be putting in some myself. If you would like to support this event financially or in person, see me or any other committee member of the Rakino Ratepayers Association. Email us.

Meet at the Rakino wharf at 9:30am on the 9th April. There are prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd biggest fish and anything special. Sausage sizzle and drinks supplied.
