Another blog...

The Rakino Ratepayers Association has set up their own official blog in an effort to control the dissemination of information, here.

You may notice some similarities to this site :). I hope that this is a step towards them becoming more transparent and informing the public of their works and that they report the unvarnished truth. I see no point in attempting to rival them.

Hi,

As you know, the Rakino Ratepayers Association intervened in July when Pine Harbour discontinued regular weekend ferry services from Pine Harbour to Rakino. The ARC implemented a temporary reduced service at weekends until a long term plan could be put in place for Rakino transport. This temporary service will soon come to an end and we are working again with the Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) to see what we can do to assist in the long term determination of transport options.

There are only a few of us on the committee and working with the various councils and stakeholders requires phone calls and emails and careful consideration to ensure we account for all viewpoints. Given that many hands make light work and the more heads the better etc etc, we have therefore decided to establish a sub committee of those willing to share the load. We welcome expressions of interest to be on the transport subcommittee which is underway now. We would only expect your services to be needed until November or so.

We plan to survey our members and any others for whom we have email addresses establish exactly what it is we on Rakino want and need in terms of island transport.

So, please get involved if you are interested. You do not have to be a member of the RRA - you just need to be interested in the long term transport solution.

Please email me by the end of the week (21st Sept) so we can get underway in earnest.
Regards

TRUDY BARNETT
On behalf of the Rakino Ratepayers Association
