Moorings
The ruling about Moorings is out.
Doug Armstrong, ACC Eastern Bays addressed the meeting
ACC decided to lodge plan change with ARC to get Woody, Home, and more Sandy Bay moorings.
Boat Clubs opposed it
Hearings held with 100’s of objections (roughly 600 against, 30-40 for)
Final Outcome: no moorings except Sandy Bay, where number is increased from 20 to 30 (roughly that number now)
Objections can be made to Environment Court for a limited time.
Can get a Resource Consent to have a Mooring but must have a good case.
Hope for a systematic fair process to allocate moorings.
Recommend ACC put in better pull out facilities and boat parking.
Chris recommended the RRPA obtain a mandate from the meeting to act as coordinators for the ratepayers between them and ARC/ACC – unanimous decision obtained at the meeting
Jazz and Art Picnic
This was another highly successful day and the main income source for the association.
Last years funds supplied a bar-b-que, 6 camlock fire fittings and sourced kids fishing competition prizes.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter received 10% of funds raised this year
Musicians need more assistance with heavy gear.
Arts had the best year - $4999.00 with 10% back to association.
A huge thank you to Chris, Jan and their company for the enormous contribution they make each year towards the Jazz and Art Picnic
Environment
Thank you to Graeme Hoare who looked after the bait stations in John’s absence.
Rhamnus – ACC keen to get rid of it and have a small budget available to spend by the end of June. A volunteer is required to help remove it.
Fire
Ken advised Lance is working on a separate fire shed still and has recently done six monthly maintenance on equipment.
6 tanks have been highlighted for camlock fittings
Hall*
Paula had confirmed in writing ongoing work but this has not been done. A letter needs to be drafted to the council to move ahead. Hall usage needs to be formalised and a booking system arranged.
Maintenance is currently on an ad hoc basis.
General Business
Sports Day on New Years Eve – Albie moved a motion that the association funds the Sports Day again this year. Unanimous agreement.
Lez mentioned Michael was going to Massey in Palmerston North and thanked him for his contribution and wished him all the best.
Wooden Pontoon – what was happening with it? It is on the beach for winter and had floated over from the North Shore. Association is not responsible for it.
*There are currently several companies putting in tenders to remove the top floor of the Rakino Hall.
